Shen Rucong is 101 years old and has been in the Communist Party of China for 81 years. When the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression broke out, Shen Rucong, a rural youth, had just been enrolled in a secondary school at public expense. However, with the sound of the cannon of the July 7th Incident, his dream of studying was shattered. In May 1940, Shen Rucong solemnly swore to a self-made party flag and a portrait of Chairman Mao in a secret room and became one of the earliest communists in Xincheng at that time.

沈如淙今年101岁，党龄81年。抗日战争爆发时，公费考取了中学的农村青年沈如淙的读书梦被七七事变一声炮响砸了个稀碎。1940年5月，在密室中，沈如淙面向自制的党旗、毛主席像庄严宣誓，成为了当时浙江省嘉兴市新塍镇最早的共产党人。

After joining the Party, Shen Rucong carried out the work of Party building in rural areas under the successive cover of a rural teacher and an education director. Besides, he protected underground party members, organized strikes, joined the army and other mass movements, and led the revolutionary armed struggle in Jiaxing area. Finally, Jiaxing was liberated on May 7, 1949.

入党后，沈如淙先后以乡村教师、教育指导员的身份为掩护，在敌控区开展农村建党工作，保护地下党员，组织罢工、参军等群众运动，并领导嘉兴地区的革命武装斗争，最终在1949年5月7日迎来了嘉兴解放。

In the 1940s, in the smoke of war, Shen Rucong, who was only about 20 years old, was not afraid of any danger and difficulties, and launched the first shot of the armed revolution in the identity of the Chinese Communist Party's Jiaxing correspondent in this area. He established the party organizations, instigated rebellions within the enemy camp and set up the independent regiment, which promoted the successful liberation of Jiaxing. He is a loyal son of the Party.

20世纪40年代，在战火的硝烟里，年仅20余岁的沈如淙不畏艰险、不惧危难，以中共嘉兴特派员的身份在这片土地上打响了武装革命的第一枪。组建党组织、策反敌对者、成立独立团，他推动着嘉兴的顺利解放。他，是党的忠诚儿女。

He worked hard on this land from the 1950s to the 1980s. Eradicating the old, fostering the new and forging ahead, he built the old Jiaxing, whose economy was once withered and people led a poor life, into a prosperous and thriving new one. Also he led the people around the South Lake to draw a great blueprint for the rising Jiaxing. He is one of the first generation of builders in Jiaxing in the new era.

20世纪50年代至80年代，他在这片土地辛勤耕耘。破旧立新、开拓进取，把经济凋零、民生困苦的旧嘉兴，建设成繁荣昌盛、欣欣向荣的新嘉兴，他带领南湖儿女一起描绘着一幅伟大的崛起蓝图。他，是嘉兴新时期的第一代建设者。

Today, Shen's own calligraphy is still prominently displayed in his home with the words, Always follow the Communist Party!

至今，沈如淙家中还醒目地挂着自己的书法作品，上面写着几个大字：永远跟着共产党走！

Whether it's 100 years or 200 years, I will always follow the Communist Party. This is the veteran party member's most sincere feeling.

“100周年也好，200周年也好，永远跟着共产党走。”这是这位老党员最真切的感受。
