The Institute of Foreign Literature focuses on such areas of research as English literature, African literature, African literature, French literature, Japanese literature, German literature, comparative literary studies, literary theory, cultural studies, and literary translation, etc., and closely aligns with the forefront of foreign literary studies and teaching, Sino-foreign comparative literary studies, and inter-cultural studies. The research team has made achievements in these fields and shows great potential for sustainable development.The faculty members have led multiple national social science funding projects, Ministry of Education humanities and social science funding projects, and provincial projects, as well as participated as key members in significant national social science funding projects and other projects. They have published a considerable number of monographs, literary and academic translations, anthologies, and poetry collections; and have published dozens of academic papers in in significant academic journals both domestically and internationally. They have also led and participated in various course projects and teaching research programs.
The Institute integrates resources and strengths of disciplines, explores new directions for multi-lingual literary research and teaching. It insists on promoting a research institution with its own characteristics and research standards by conducting academic exchange activities and multi-dimensional academic cooperation.
