Students from Zhejiang Normal University clinched a gold medal at the China International Student Innovation Competition (CISCIC) 2024, held at Shanghai Jiao Tong University from October 12 to 15. The team, led by Wang Fuhao, a student from the College of Foreign Languages, showcased their project “Hope Land-Global Leader in Lightweight Portable Intelligent Unit Housing,” securing the second-best performance in their category and marking a significant achievement in student-led innovation.
The competition, themed “I Dare, I Create,” drew attention from notable figures including Chen Jining, Secretary of the Shanghai Municipal Party Committee, and Huai Jinpeng, Party Secretary and Minister of the Ministry of Education. It aims to foster a platform for college students to demonstrate and enhance their innovation and entrepreneurship skills.
In a letter to the competition’s student participants, General Secretary Xi Jinping highlighted the critical role of innovation in human progress and encouraged the youth to advance scientific spirit and technological innovation. The “Hope Land” project aligns closely with Xi’s vision, embodying the innovative spirit of ZJNU students.
The project introduces an innovative approach to modular housing, featuring advanced Building-Integrated Photovoltaic (BIPV) technology and exclusive multi-dimensional aerial insertion technology for rapid deployment, energy efficiency, and environmental sustainability. The design emphasizes spatial optimization and material innovation, tailored to diverse living conditions and regional needs.
The team expressed their vision to redefine the future of residential living, providing a smarter, more sustainable lifestyle globally. “Our vision is to lead the future of the residential industry and provide users worldwide with a smarter and more environmentally-friendly lifestyle,” the team stated.
This victory is the culmination of persistent effort and collaboration. Wang Fuhao, leveraging his proficiency in foreign languages, engaged in interdisciplinary studies and practical research under the mentorship of Dr. Li Yiming and other faculty members. The project has been recognized in various forums, including the Third China International Solar Decathlon, and has been implemented in locations such as Zhangjiakou, Hebei Province, and California.
The success of the “Hope Land” project is a testament to the university’s commitment to nurturing innovative talents and promoting a culture of scientific research and innovation among its students. This is further supported by the initiation of the Undergraduate Innovative Talent Program, which has already facilitated significant student involvement in national and provincial innovation projects and yielded numerous high-quality academic publications.
With this achievement, ZJNU looks forward to inspiring further innovation and entrepreneurship among its students, setting new benchmarks in educational excellence and innovation.
